À propos du projet

Energy farm Pleione will help increase the availability of fossil-free energy in Sweden and strengthen the electricity capacity on Gotland. With its geographical location, established industries, innovative entrepreneurial spirit, and thriving agriculture, Gotland is well-positioned to drive Sweden’s transition journey. 

Energy farm Pleione can generate 5 TWh of fossil-free electricity annually, which corresponds to 3.7 percent of Sweden’s current electricity needs. The availability of fossil-free energy and increased electricity capacity provides opportunities to further process electricity into hydrogen and other e-fuels that can serve as energy carriers for storage purposes, fuels, replacements for fossil fuels in industry, or to produce green fertilizers. 

Energy farm Pleione consists of 42–70 wind turbines and is planned to also have hydrogen facilities on specific platforms or on the foundations of the wind turbines. The total height of the wind turbines will be up to a maximum of 370 meters. The farm is planned to be operational by 2030.

Oxygenation of the Baltic Sea 

Together with SMHI, Stockholm University, and NORCE, OX2 is participating in the research project BaltVent on the possibility of oxygenating the deep waters of the Baltic Sea with oxygen from hydrogen production in connection with offshore wind power. 

In partnership with Ingka Investments 

OX2 is developing Pleione together with Ingka Investments, part of the IKEA sphere, which is a co-owner of the project. The IKEA sphere is a long-term owner with high climate goals. They invest heavily in renewable energy production and currently own over 2 GW of renewable production. Read more here.
