PPA explained

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a long-term contract between a business (electricity buyer) and a renewable energy producer. This agreement ensures that the buyer secures electricity at a predetermined price for a set period, while the producer gains a stable revenue stream.

PPAs are tailored to match the energy and sustainability needs of a business. Electricity can either be delivered to a specific site or to via virtual settlement, where no physical electricity is delivered to the buyer’s site. Instead, the agreement acts as a hedge against market price fluctuations, ensuring price stability while contributing to the growth of renewable energy.
